“Sometimes your greatest asset is
simply your ability to stay with it longer than anyone else.”

“Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

1 Timothy 4:14-16

“11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:11-13

Thoughts About a Lizard Licking the Floor

My sister and I stay in adjacent rooms in a dormitory. She has what she call her ‘bestfriend” - which is the lone lizard pacing about in our rooms. Its 1 am here, my sister is alreasy asleep and I caught sight of her bestfriend licking probably a chocolate on the floor. Unlike other lizards, I made movements which ordinary lizards would immediately run if they felt even a slight movement. However, looking at it now, its having the time of his life licking. I realized its my first time I observed a close to stationary lizards. When he is done savoring the chocolate, it took a step backward and probably noticed me staring at it. Uncaring however, he went back licking.

I do not know what has gone into me writing about a lizard. But looking at it, I realized how miniscule we all are in this vast universe. Everyone is struggling to survive in this complicated web of life. I do not know if this is right for me to feel this way, but somehow I felt blessed I am a human being rather than a lizard. Not for reasons which exalt humanism but in comparison to the great life system we live, being a human makes me a little bit bigger in the order of things. Its 1:04 and I do not know why I am still awake and writing about my sister’s bestfriend who went away again to find means to survive. :D

- I Believe I Can Fly , Kenny G. feat Yolanda Adams

One of the greatest version of this very inspiring song. When I listen to this, I can imagine my own struggles in trying to graduate law this year and my upcoming Bar exams next year. On a lighter note, I cant help also think of the Boston Celtics hanging their Banner #18 when I listen to this song. :D

“Sara: You know the secret to living with rules?
Neal: Finding ways of bending them.”

White Collar, Season 2

“The results of my exams will most likely approximate the current state of my room: A MESS.”

“Studying law is like finding a needle in a haystack, you try to identify possible areas to search but ends up raking the whole stack anyway.”

For my own Sanity: Thoughts of a Celtics Convert

It is a chilly night and I just arrived from school after grueling hours of criminal law review. The books are piling in my room to be read and re-read. Our exams are short of 2 weeks away. Yet, here I am writing my thoughts which had plagued me this past few weeks.

I have never been a sports fan. But last June, when my little sister was in front of the tv, I sat and watched too. She was watching the NBA play-offs. She rooted for Heat and I said I would go for the Celtics eventhough I do not know a single soul who played for the team. I continued to watch and perhaps for the first time, I was amazed with the assists of the guy in #9. He was a great sight to behold  in orchestrating plays. From then on, I followed closely the team. With everything I had to study, I found myself with my book in front of the tv. Celtics were down 2-0 in the series and I felt they were underdogs in the series. But in that week I followed them, I saw their struggle and pure grit and determination to win. They did not win however but after watching them, I became a Celtic convert.

I watched clips of their plays, especially Rondo. I got excited over their draft picks and the free agency. The developments of the past weeks affected me which made me think what has gone into me. I am on my fourth year of law school yet here I am bothered by Celtics news. Perhaps, this why I closed my Commercial Law book to share my thoughts because I need my focus back. C’s was hit pretty hard with the loss of Ray Allen but for me, it would be a great time for the Celtics’ youngblood to step up - sometimes we have to cut something in order to have other parts grow as well. Allen must have his reasons but as said in my favorite anime, ‘A LONE WOLF IS NO WOLF AT ALL.’ Celtics must move on as a team, as a pack. I am rooting for Celtics because of Rondo mostly and as long as he is the ALPHA, the Celtics will achive their destination - Banner #18.
